The Health Promotion division of the Healthy Schools Department offers support to all schools across Windsor-Essex County. A comprehensive team of Public Health Nurses (PHN), Health Promotion Specialists, and a Nutritionist work together to help enhance the health of students in our community.
A PHN is assigned to each school, and they are able to provide information, resources, and support to compliment the Health & Physical Education Curriculum.
The topics we support include:
- Healthy eating and nutrition
- Physical activity and sedentary behavior
- Substance use and harm reduction
- Injury prevention
- Healthy growth and sexuality
- Mental health and suicide prevention
- Violence and bullying
- Oral and vision health
