What Are Opioids?

 

Opioids are a group of drugs that are primarily used to relieve pain. Opioids can be prescribed or used illegally. Common opioids include:

  • Codeine
  • Morphine
  • Oxycodone (e.g. Percocet)
  • Hydromorphone (e.g. Vicodin)
  • Fentanyl
  • Methadone
  • Heroin
