Take Charge is helping Windsor-Essex County residents eat healthy at their workplace!

Many Windsor-Essex County residents spend a lot of time at work most days; therefore, creating a healthy workplace environment is critical when it comes to promoting and supporting healthy eating behaviours. Promoting and supporting healthy behaviours (e.g., eating and physical activity) at work is associated with a lower incidence of absenteeism, reduced productivity, and medical costs. Everybody wins when organizations step up to help their employees make the healthy choice the easy choice.

How can Take Charge help your organization?

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit works with organizations across Windsor and Essex County to create environments that encourage healthy eating behaviours. By adopting the Take Charge program, you and your organization will have access to a registered dietitian from the WECHU, who will help support you to accomplish the following:

  • Engage with your organization to increase awareness and knowledge of the importance of healthy eating and supportive nutrition environments
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate changes to the food environment
  • Develop and implement policies that promote a supportive nutrition environment
