The Health Unit is committed to increasing access to harm reduction services to prevent opioid overdose-related deaths. The Ontario Naloxone Program (ONP), offered through the Health Unit, distributes naloxone nasal spray (a drug that can temporarily reverse the effects of opioids) to eligible community organizations to distribute to their clients who use opioids or are at risk of an opioid overdose, and their friends and families.
View the Ontario Naloxone Program page for eligibility criteria and agency requirements.
This section provides resources for our community partners to support them in the distribution of naloxone. Community partners, such as yourselves, are instrumental to increasing access to naloxone for those who need it the most.
Thank you for being a part of this program! Together, we can better support the needs of our clients and community.
If you are interested in becoming an ONP Community partner, please submit an online Statement of Need.
Starting June 1, 2023, employers must provide naloxone in the workplace if certain circumstances described in the Occupational Health and Safety Act apply. To receive naloxone training for your workplace and/or a free naloxone kit, please visit the Government of Ontario’s Naloxone in the Workplace webpage.
