For over 100 years, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has continued to support better health for all. We do this by working with partners to deliver public health programs and services that are relevant and meaningful to you, your family, friends, and neighbours. 


The WECHU strives to have healthy people living in healthy Windsor and Essex County communities. We accomplish this by promoting, protecting, and improving health of those young and old through the following public health programs:

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit continues to support disease prevention in our community.

From local information to prevention options, the Health Unit is here to keep our community members safe from diseases and stay prepared for emergencies.

From keeping water and food safe to helping residents have healthy homes, the Health Unit continues to support locals in healthy living.

WECHU offers education on issues that can affect your health at home and programs and services surrounding food handling and pools and spas.

SUBSTANCE USE PREVENTION FOR ALL

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit continues to help those struggling with substances such as opioids, cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

From education to treatment and counselling, the Health Unit is an ally for anyone affected by substance use or looking to prevent substance use in our community.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit continues to empower new parents with education and resources centred on each stage of pregnancy and early parenting.

Whether you are thinking of starting a family or you already have young children, WECHU offers free information, classes, programs, and one-on-one support.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit continues to improve community oral health with programs, services, and guidance for residents.

WECHU helps make smiles bright for children 0 to 17 and seniors through provincially funded programs.

The Health Unit educates and encourages residents to stay safe outside by providing current local data and tips for environmental issues, such as extreme weather or sun safety.
