This presentation provides a summary of the opioid-overdose emergency department visits and opioid-related deaths. It includes historical trends, comparisons by public health units, and comparisons with all of Ontario. There are additional characteristics of the deaths in 2020 from January to September as the most recent information available. The characteristics involve age, type of death, substance present at death, location of death, whether another individual was present at the time of death, and if naxolone was used. The final section contains information related to drug-related alerts issued by the Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy (WECOSS) and EMS alerts for suspected opioid-overdoses.
