Private Well Water

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reminds its residents that if you are drinking water from a private well on your property, you can test your well water for free!

Year-round well water testing is free of charge for private residential use. Water is tested for total coliform and E. coli bacteria.

Quit Smoking or Vaping

Are you looking to quit using nicotine products such as cigarettes, e-cigarettes (e.g., vape pens, vapes, mods, hookah pens or e-hookahs), cigars, cigarillos, pipe tobacco, smokeless/chewing tobacco (snus or snuff) and or tobacco water pipe? Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health and for most it can be a challenge. Remember, quitting is possible and there are supports across the community to help.

Extreme Weather

Windsor-Essex County Health Unit issues extreme temperature warnings (heat warnings and cold warnings) to inform the residents, local agencies, stakeholders, and the media in Windsor and Essex County of the forecast of extreme weather events.

Ticks and your Health

Ticks are a relative to the spider and are a crawling, non-flying insect. They vary in size and colour. Ticks are very small (1 to 5 mm) when unfed and female ticks get larger and change colour when feeding. Ticks can spread Lyme Disease.
