WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Elementary school students (kindergarten to grade 8) and secondary school students (grade 9 to grade 12) who have been suspended from school.
Please note, the WECHU clinics are limited, and routine immunizations are available through health care providers (HCP) and some walk-in clinics. Families who have a HCP are strongly encouraged to contact their HCP’s office to make sure their child’s immunizations are up to date. Don’t forget to provide updated immunization information to the WECHU.
WHAT DO I BRING TO THE CLINIC?
- Student's health card if they have one.
- Suspension order the child received.
- Yellow immunization card or immunization records from a health care provider.
WHEN WILL THE SUSPENSION BE LIFTED?
Once the student’s record is up to date with the WECHU, the student may return to school. Students who attend the Suspension Walk-In Clinic will receive a rescind letter (i.e., an official document), confirming that they can return to school that same day.
The WECHU cannot accept immunization information from the school or verbally from parents/guardians. To have the suspension order lifted, parents/guardians must do 1 or more of the following so that their child’s immunization record is up to date:
- Book an appointment for their child to receive the missing vaccines or provide a valid exemption from their Health Care Provider.
- Ask their Health Care Provider to fax their child’s updated immunization records to the WECHU at 519-258-7288.
- Bring their child’s immunization record to the WECHU office (Windsor or Leamington)
- Update their child’s record at immune.wechu.org (must upload proof of immunization as an attachment)
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE COMING TO THE CLINIC?
- One adult is permitted to attend with the child.
- Mask or face coverings are strongly recommended at the vaccination site.
- Parents/guardians and/or children should stay home if they feel sick.
