The Windsor-Essex County Public Health Unit (WECHU) has approved a new three-year collective agreement with public health nurses represented by the Ontario Nurses Association, Local 8.
“We are delighted that we have reached a fair and responsible collective agreement with our public health nurses, that will allow us to continue to provide essential public health programs to meet the needs of our community” said Dr. Ken Blanchette, Chief Executive Officer, WECHU. “I want to thank our public health nurses for their incredible dedication, and I look forward to working together to deliver on our shared priorities.”
The new collective agreement was ratified by public health nurses last week and subsequently approved by the Board of Health of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. The agreement strikes a balance between the growing demand for public health services and the budgetary pressures of the Health Unit, while offering nurses a meaningful wage increase in each year of the contract.
